What Is Stopping Us to Embrace Football?

Taiwanese baseball culture was developed originally at Jiayi region. This southern town cemented its reputation as the baseball capital of Taiwan when several of its greatest players went on to star in baseball in Japan as the pioneer in 1930s. The baseball history dates back into the Japanese colonization in 1985 after the Sino-Japanese War. Of that time, baseball was introduced in Taiwan as modernizing under the Japanese administration and evolved into a source of players for Japan's national teams. In fact, in the early 1930s, nearly all-major secondary schools and many primary schools had established representative baseball teams.

In 921, a Hualian native named Lin Guixing formed the “Takasago Baseball Team” of Amis boys. Two years later the team changed its name to the “High-Ability” Baseball Team when they all enrolled in the Hualian Harbor Agricultural Study Institute. This team was different than any other team hybrid; they were strong in competence. Lin and his Noko team achieved great fame when they traveled to Japan in 1925 and won five of six games against Japanese school teams there. However, the team was dismissed after four of the best players were transferred to one of the Japanese secondary school.
